Art Central is Hong Kong鈥檚 exciting new art fair, showcasing the next generation of talent alongside some of the most established contemporary galleries and art spaces from across the globe.
Launched by the founders of ART HK, Art Central debuts 14-16 March 2015 (VIP Preview 13 March 2015) to coincide with Art Basel鈥檚 Hong Kong edition.
Since ART HK鈥檚 launch seven years ago, Hong Kong has firmly cemented itself as Asia鈥檚 art hub. Hong Kong now has the third largest auction market after New York and London. Zero tax on the import and export of art and established collectors from all over the Asia-Pacific region provide the foundation for Hong Kong鈥檚 thriving gallery scene. World-class international galleries are members of the 51-strong Hong Kong Art Gallery Association, having opened exhibition spaces in Hong Kong to take advantage of the growing Asian interest. The rapid development of the M+ museum of visual culture in Hong Kong, and the launch of Art Basel in 2013 are changing Hong Kong鈥檚 landscape.
The addition of Art Central to Hong Kong鈥檚 art scene is testament to this. The fair will feature over 75 galleries from 21 countries, with approximately 65% being from greater Asia. The line-up also includes 19 Hong Kong galleries as well as more than 30 who have never before exhibited in a Hong Kong art fair. Located on the new Central Harbourfront, in an architect designed temporary structure, the fair is conveniently located and a 10 minute walk from the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where Art Basel takes place.
