Arte Lisboa 2011
ARTE LISBOA bodes exceptionally well for the future. The Fair clearly shows the growing interest of the local private contemporary art sector in a country where the private collector is directed more and more toward new creations, following the road marked by important initiatives such as the Museu Colec莽茫o Berardo in the Centro Cultural de Bel茅m or the Banco Esp铆rito Santo which invests in contemporary photography.
The presence of the Portuguese galleries at ARTE LISBOA have allowed for the maturity and strengthening of the Fair. The event is the only one of its type in Portugal and attracts exhibitors from Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Brazil, Mozambique, Korea and especially Spain, confirming the existence of an Iberian contemporary art market.
In past editions, ARTE LISBOA successfully explored its role turning the Fair into a meeting point for the organization of cycles of debates bringing together art critics, museum directors, exhibition curators, international artists and gallery owners, or Commissioned Programs with curators of renowned international fame such as Isabel Carlos, Paco Barrag谩n, 脫scar Alonso Molina and Filipa Oliveira.
Its main challenge will be to make its mark amongst the dense calendar of events and Fairs devoted to contemporary art. The idiosyncratic beauty of the city of Lisbon and its cultural and gastronomical richness can also complement your visit to ARTE LISBOA throughout the warm days of November, while the rest of Europe is overcome by the cold weather.
