Loop Fair 2013

23 May, 2013 - 25 May, 2013
LOOP is a professional meeting point and an invitational platform for moving image artists鈥 projects presented by their galleries. Putting the accent back on the piece presented, it has established itself as a space of discovery through the careful selection of work by our committee and the emphasis given to premi猫res.
LOOP was born in 2003 as the first fair exclusively devoted to videoart. LOOP 2013 will be held from the 23rd to the 25th May and will signal its 11th edition. The event has consolidated itself as a dynamic professional hub for the commercialization, community making and exhibition of moving image in contemporary art, signalling one of the most exciting events in the contemporary art calendar. It has proven to be the easiest and most efficient fair to promote video art projects within a tightly focused event and audience. LOOP puts the accent on the work: it is a solo project event in which premi猫res are taken into special consideration, therefore becoming a showcase of the latest and most innovative contemporary practices in moving image art
A selection of 40-50 galleries of international profile takes part each year in the event. Participation is exclusively on invitation by the LOOP Committee, which is chaired by collector Jean-Conrad Lema卯tre and composed by collectors Isabelle Lema卯tre, Jos茅e and Marc Gensollen, and gallerist Christopher Grimes (Christopher Grimes Gallery, Santa Monica).
Besides, the reduced but carefully considered scale and its location in the rooms of the Hotel Catalonia Ramblas enhance the creation of a lively atmosphere, moreover emphasized by a well-articulated Professional & Collectors鈥 programme. In sum, all these characteristics amount to providing the ultimate conditions to engage both with the artists鈥 work and the attendees.
Since its inception, LOOP distinguishes the most outstanding piece and gallery proposal of each edition with the LOOP Awards, which are selected by an international jury of experts.
