Records were set at the 2007 show with more than $15 million worth of art sold and 20,000 people attending the event. The Opening Night Gala also set records with more than 4,000 people in attendance. The 2008 weekend-long event allows art lovers and collectors to view and purchase 鈥淔ive Centuries of Fine Art鈥 from destinations around the globe; with more than one hundred renowned galleries showcasing an array of fine art from the 16th century to the present. For the first time the Los Angeles Fine Print Fair will join the 2008 Los Angeles Art Show, relocating from its LACMA location in previous years. The Opening Night Gala, held Wednesday evening, January 23, 2008, is an event anticipated and attended by international art connoisseurs, prominent art figures and celebrities. The evening will feature renowned musicians and be catered by some of Los Angeles鈥 most acclaimed restaurants. All proceeds of the Opening Night Gala will benefit the Art Museum Council (AMC) and the Prints and Drawings Council (PDC) of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Considered one of the most prestigious annual expositions in the United States, and the most important on the West Coast, the Los Angeles Art Show sets a precedent among national art exhibitions.More than 100 international galleries from the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia and New Zealand have been selected to participate in this year鈥檚 show. The Los Angeles Art Show鈥檚 outstanding reputation is based upon a continued commitment to present only the best and the highest quality of work.The strength and variety of the show鈥檚 scope reflects a carefully selected group of galleries with all works vetted for authenticity by authorities in the fields of art represented. Vetting is made possible by sponsorship from FADA. During the 2007 show, records were set with growing sales, attendance and media attention. More than $15 million worth of art was sold and 20,000 people attended the four-day event 鈥 4,000 more than the previous year.It also grabbed the attention of Hollywood 鈥 celebrities such as Barbra Streisand, Angelina Jolie, Warren Beatty, Annette Benning and Kevin Bacon were spotted browsing and purchasing artwork for their personal collections. Spanning a diverse range of styles and price, the Los Angeles Art Show provides the perfect arena for the interests of both the beginning and advanced collector, alike. Not claiming to specialize in one area or era, the show highlights art from Old Masters to Contemporary, including photography and sculpture. Relocating from its previous location at LACMA, this will mark the Print Fair鈥檚 23rd year in Los Angeles.
