Jewellery at Galerie Anhava When Egill Saebjörnsson was chosen to represent Iceland at the Venice Biennale, two bad-tempered, human-eating trolls, Ūgh and Bõögâr, took over his studio and made the Biennale exhibition on his behalf, without asking for his permission. Art and Space at Guggenheim BilbaoArt and Space is based on the historic encounter between Eduardo Chillida and the philosopher Martin Heidegger, and the latter’s eponymous 1969 essay with illustrations by the great Basque sculptor. Using this point of reference and landmark works from the Guggenheim Bilbao Collection, the exhibition will explore the experience of space as interpreted by international artists in the past five decades. This innovative look at a central theme in Basque art history will also be a celebration of the space of the Museum, of its inexhaustible dynamism, and the productive dialogue among collections and narratives within the Guggenheim Constellation and beyond.
