Sharyn Finnegan at Blue Mountain Gallery Native New York artist, Sharyn Finnegan, is having a solo exhibit at the Blue Mountain Gallery dedicated to the view south from her mother鈥檚 window on West 9th Street in Greenwich Village, a view she looked at growing up, as well as early on the morning of the 11th of September 2001. A 1971 Finnegan painting showing the cranes on the rising World Trade Center hangs next to her 2013 painting of the cranes atop the current skyscraper at the World Trade Center on a winter鈥檚 day. read more...

Judy Ledgerwood: Chromatic Patterns for the Smart Museum at Smart Museum of Art, University of Chicago Chicago-based artist Judy Ledgerwood creates an immense, site-specific wall painting for the Smart Museum. The painting is comprised of horizontal bands of boldly colored patterns that run across the large central wall in the Smart鈥檚 reception hall. The work responds to both the soaring, symmetrical architecture of the space and, in its repeating patterns, the design of Louis Sullivan鈥檚 elevator screens for the Chicago Stock Exchange building (two of which are on view in the lobby). read more...
