Artists at Work
SCOTTSDALE.... A record 110 artists in 31 studio locations open their doors to visitors of the seventh annual Hidden in the Hills Studio Tour, held in Cave Creek, Carefree, and North Scottsdale. Sponsored by the nonprofit Sonoran Arts League, the free event allows art enthusiasts the chance to observe artists at work in their private studios. A map and signs along the road lead guests on a self-guided tour through the desert foothills to each studio, and information booths are conveniently located along the way.

On With the Show
TUSCON.... The long-running Mountain Oyster Club Show and Sale returns to Tuscon on Sunday, November 23. More than 180 artists participate, including honorary club members Michael Stack, Jim Butler, Barbara and Tom Hill, Susan Kliewer, and Robert "Shoofly" Shufelt. New inductees this year are painters Frank LaLumia and Tom Dorr and sculptor Jim Gruzalski. The show is open to the public for just one day, by invitation only.

Great American West
TUSCON.... Settlers West Galleries hosts its annual Great American West Sale on Saturday, November 22. The one-day event features artwork by some of the West`s best, including Tim Cox, Martha Pettigrew, Cyrus Afsary, Dave Wade, and Herb Mignery, among many others. A 5:30 p.m. reception will be followed by the purchase drawing at 7 p.m.

Dixon`s Arizona
PHOENIX.... Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa hosts an exhibition of 20 oils and drawings by Maynard Dixon. The exhibit takes place in the resort`s Gold Room, which holds a mural that Dixon created for the hotel in 1929 called THE LEGEND OF EARTH AND SUN. Dr. J. Mark Sublette, a recognized expert on the life and works of Dixon, presents a lecture on the artist titled "Maynard Dixon`s Arizona-1900 to 1946." Dixon`s works on exhibit depict Arizona subjects ranging from saguaros to Apaches.

Duclash and Homer
SCOTTSDALE.... Legacy Gallery hosts an exhibit November 6-16 featuring works by painters C. Michael Dudash and Chauncey Homer. Both artists began their respective careers as illustrators and later changed paths to concentrate on fine art. Dudash lives in Vermont and paints many subjects near his home. Homer is a founding member of the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society.

MESA.... Sculptures in the Streets V. Sculptors across the country display and sell their work in this outdoor exhibit on the sidewalks of downtown Main Street (480.890.2613, www.mesatowncenter.com) November 15-April 15.
PHOENIX.... second Annual Spanish Market. Nearly 70 Hispanic artists from Arizona and New Mexico are featured at this weekend marketplace November 15-16 at the Heard Museum (602.252.8848, www. heard.org).
SCOTTSDALE.... Canyon De Chelly Showcase. During the first two weeks of November, Trailside Galleries on the Mall (480.945.7751, www.trailside galleries.com) presents a showcase of paintings depicting Canyon de Chelly.
The Magic in the Trees. Oaxacan woodcarvings as well as limited-edition prints by deceased cowboy artist Frank McCarthy are featured at the Leona King Gallery (480.945.1209, www.leonakinggallery.com) November 2-31.
