Focusing on modern and contemporary art from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region, the event confirmed the intuition of the Menasart Fair’s protagonists: to place Beirut as a nerve center of the art’s market of this vast geographical area.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Gaby Layoun, Minister of Culture, and the French Ambassador to Lebanon Denis Pietton, Menasart Fair opened its doors on July 12, in the presence of many diplomats, businessmen, collectors and art lovers in the region.
The 25 international galleries that participated in this first edition have highly appreciated the outstanding attendance at the fair and the fruitful contacts with collectors. Most of the galleries made many transactions and many promising agreements took place between participants and professionals from the art market.

The artwork sold included four sculptures by Nadim Karam presented by Ayyam Gallery (Damascus – Beirut – Dubai) and watercolor paintings by Abdul Qader Al Rais presented by Hunar Gallery of Dubai.
The modern and contemporary art of the Asia also called the attention of regional and international amateurs and collectors especially with the sale of three sculptures by Su Jianguo from Richard Koh Fine Art of Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and artworks by Naiz Khan presented at Rossi & Rossi of London.
The program of conferences and round tables, supported by an exceptional panel of international speakers who had come especially for the occasion, was very well attended, leading to discussions and exchanges between the public and the participants. Among these, let’s note the intervention of Catherine David (curator), Carole Prat (Audiovisual and Cultural Attaché of the French Embassy in Lebanon), Dr. Francesco Buranelli (Professor and Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Church’s Cultural Heritage), Dr. Geoffrey King (School of Oriental and African Studies), Mona Khazindar (Director of the Institut du Monde Arabe - Paris), Sirine Fattouh (Centre Georges Pompidou - Paris), Her Royal Highness, Princess Reem Al Faisal.
