Alexandre Silberman: Nature
NATURE is both a documentary and a fable. A surrealist tale set in the utopian landscape of Parc de La Courneuve, one of Europe鈥檚 largest artificial green spaces, yet enclosed within a concrete jungle.
Formerly a marsh, then an agricultural plain, then a slum, this entirely man-made territory imposes its opulence on the raw and dry landscape of the Parisian suburbs that surround it.
Vast plains, belvederes, mountains, and pyramids; everything is designed to reclaim a view unobstructed by the tower blocks that dominate the landscape just a few steps away, and which can only be seen from above, rendered tiny by the force of the mineral viewpoints.
This gives rise to a strange impression when you enter the park, feeling both the hand of man and the sense of nature.
