Bilal Hamdad: Paname

17 Oct, 2025 - 08 Feb, 2026

As part of its 2025 season, the Petit Palais welcomes Bilal Hamdad, a painter whose works explore urban solitude through Parisian scenes.

A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Sidi Bel Abbes in 2010 and the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2018, he is known for his large-scale oil paintings, often inspired by live photographs. His paintings feature solitary, anonymous figures, creating a striking contrast with the hustle and bustle of the city.

The exhibition at the Petit Palais brings together some twenty of his works, including two new ones created for the occasion, and establishes a dialogue with the museum's permanent collections. Bilal Hamdad draws his inspiration from great masters such as Rubens, Manet and Courbet, incorporating subtle references to their works into his own creations. For example, his painting Miroir des Astres (2024) borrows from Baroque aesthetics, while S茅r茅nit茅 d'une ombre (2024) echoes Manet's still life.

The exhibition invites visitors to take a fresh look at the Petit Palais collections and explore the paradoxes of our times through the work of Bilal Hamdad.
