Correspondence: Circulation, Collaboration, Community

May 11, 2024 - Jun 21, 2024

Baxter St at the Camera Club of New York is pleased to announce, Correspondence: circulation, collaboration, community, a group exhibition in Baxter St鈥檚 Project Space at 128 Baxter St. An opening reception will be held on May 11 from 12-5pm at 128 Baxter Street, coinciding with Baxter St鈥檚 first ever Block Party, and the exhibition will be on view from May 11 鈥 June 21, 2024.

Submissions were collected through an open call inviting individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and career statuses to send in a 4 in X 6 in lens-based artwork to be displayed in the exhibition and later archived on our website and in our library. All submissions received were included in the final exhibition. The size of the artworks, referential to a postcard, emphasizes the democratic nature of photography, how easily it can be made and shared, how it can spread ideas and create connections. Our relationships with the artists in our community rarely begin or end with a solo exhibition, this show is a visual representation of the varied ways artists contribute to the fabric of Baxter St鈥檚 community featuring works from our current artists, alumni, board members, staff, neighbors, and more.
