Emily Gernild: Aunts and Dolls
This autumn Gl. Holtegaard also presents a solo exhibition by Danish visual artist Emily Gernild (f. 1985).
Gernild is known for her strongly-coloured, sensory paintings combining everyday motifs with dreamlike scenes that evoke memories of scents, shapes and atmospheres. In Emily Gernild鈥檚 paintings the figurative and abstract intermingle in weird and wonderful ways, echoing 17th-century Dutch still lifes, the symbolism of Edvard Munch, and the works of fellow Danish artist TAL R.
