Encountering the Floating World: Ukiyo-e and the West

This exhibition, the subject of a Spring 2013 seminar cotaught by the Johnson鈥檚 Nancy Green, will examine the aesthetic influence of Far Eastern art on Western art from the late 1800s to the present, through original woodblocks and related art by Hokusai, Hiroshige, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Edward Penfield, and others.
