Lakis Papastathis. In Search of A Lost Picture
The exhibition entitled 鈥淟akis Papastathis - In Search of the Lost Picture鈥欌�� is an effort to shed light on the multi-faceted artistic personality of filmmaker Lakis Papastathis: Film, fiction and documentary, literature, art, photography.
Lakis Papastathis, as a creative force, met, recorded and studied well-known and less known intellectuals and artists from two centuries of the modern-Greek world, while pursuing a connection, through his films, with literature, art and modern Greek history.
On the creative route of the filmmaker, writer and collector, unfold stories and encounters with people who left a unique mark on an era spanning over six decades. They all connect with us once more through the documentary program PARASKINIO (Backstage - created by Lakis Papastathis and Takis Chatzopoulos) and the films and books of the filmmaker: From Karolos Koun to Dionysis Savvopoulos to Alexis Damianos and Nikos Koundouros.
In search of the lost picture: a journey in memory and time, through people, films, documentaries, books, rare literature magazines, film archives. All the roads of Papastathis鈥� art connect and intertwine to compose this unique palimpsest created by the lifework of the filmmaker.
