Margaret Abeshu Leversby: Reality Is Radical

Kunsthall Oslo is very pleased to present Reality Is Radical, a new-commissioned solo exhibition by the Oslo-based artist Margaret Abeshu Leversby.
Abeshu鈥檚 central theme is the relationship between the material world and our conception of it. Reality is shaped by hands and tools but also by myths and meanings; by the past as well as the future. Abeshu鈥檚 sculptures combine found forms and found materials in new symbolic gestures; alloy wheels, slaughterhouse hooks and synthetic hair extensions are joined in new configurations whose meaning and purpose is still under construction. In a series of print works, sunsets photographed from the artist鈥檚 Oslo home become timeless voids haunted by ghost-like figures. Abeshu invites us to pay attention to the way ideology transforms our perception of the world, and how aesthetic and emotional languages participate in this transformation.
