A major retrospective of one of the UK鈥檚 leading figurative painters, Peter Howson, opens at Edinburgh鈥檚 City Art Centre in May 2023.

His experiences of abuse鈥攚hether self-inflicted and substance-related, or the traumatic events of his childhood鈥攈ave moulded his world view, and afforded him an affinity with individuals on the margins of society.
