Though very different in subject and style, the 21 images presented in PORTRAITS OF LIFE AND LAND invite viewers to contemplate portraits of water and stone, flesh and bone. Made of pixels, ink, silver and paint, they each examine the surfaces and roots of life and land. Russell鈥檚 series, Composite, explores the nature of duality, self-perception and isolation in a time of tremendous pressure. Guillermo鈥檚 Mammoth Springs shows the evolving shapes and textures created by the slow-flowing alkaline waters coming from hot springs at Yellowstone鈥檚 Mammoth Springs.
