Yulia Tsukerman & Moran Zigron: Fish-Cloud
Moran Zigron is a graduate of industrial design at Avni Institute in Tel Aviv and works as an exhibition designer. Zigron would like her work to put a smile on the face of the viewer, to fill you with lighthearted happiness as if walking in nature or diving into the depth of the ocean. In her words: 鈥淭he color attracts the eye like a hypnotized butterfly. The inspiration for the forms is from
existing objects, a combination of nature and animated films.鈥� This combination allows the viewer to connect to a familiar image that is unexpected and different.
Yulia Tsukerman is a graduate of the Ceramic and Glass Design Department at Bezalel, Jerusalem as well as the Benyamini First Studio Scholarship and works in an independent studio in Tel Aviv. Yulia creates, in her words, 鈥渟imple functional forms鈥�, objects made on the wheel or cast, with added 鈥榗loud鈥� handles, a recurring motif that looks like a na茂ve graphic sketch. Tsukerman
strives for precise essence of form, simplicity, and beauty. In her words she 鈥渢ries to find islands of quiet, tranquility and sanity. To peel away the extraneous, the noise, the excess information and leave just the essential鈥�.
In the exhibition Fish-Cloud the two artists display their work side by side. If the exhibition was a story Tsukerman is responsible for the atmosphere and the background of delicate, precise, monochrome vessels that are also humorous and Zigron brings wild action, clarity, and colorful brightness. The works of Yulia are calm and serene, floating cosmically and the objects are harmonious despite the characteristic disproportion. The contrast between the two artists amplifies the comic and the fragility which connects to the world of Zigron.
Moran Zigron sculpts colorful creatures that catch the eye with their loud, expressive plasticity. Each work has an independent presence. A series of 鈥榣ead players鈥� that are familiar and surprising.
The exhibition is an ensemble of quiet and noise. It has two rhythms of two artists with different beats that together create an unexpected harmony.
