Girls鈥� Club is a private foundation established in 2006 by Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz. Its aim is to increase awareness of contemporary art in Broward County and to spur greater cultural growth in the community. Girls鈥� Club mounts thematic, curated exhibitions utilizing both the Bishop Good/Horvitz collection and works from local, national and international contemporary artists. With its special emphasis on the contribution of women to the field of contemporary art, the mission of Girls鈥� Club is to educate the public, and to serve as a resource for art scholars, curators, and practicing artists. A program of guest speakers, educational partnerships, and special events will enhance and inspire cultural growth in Broward County. Located in downtown Fort Lauderdale鈥檚 cultural district at 117 NE 2nd Street, around the corner from the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Girls鈥� Club is a multi-purpose exhibition, education and event space. The architecture, designed by Margi Nothard of Glavovic Studio in Fort Lauderdale, has dramatically reoriented the existing structure into a contemporary art environment that incorporates flexible interior elements and exterior elements seen in the translucent façade that converts the building into a massive projection screen for moving image works.
