In the second edition of BROADWAY 1602 PROJECTS, we will present a solo show of NY minimalist Rosemarie Castoro in her 1961 Soho loft studio. Find out this summer when White creates a supersized puppet of Napoleon Bonaparte Broward during a 10-day residency at the Art and Culture Center. For his first exhibition in Florida, the Los Angeles-based artist will create a gallery fun house that also features his witty “Word” paintings, new drawings from recent artist residencies in Key West and Captiva, and a collection of whimsical puppets made from found objects. read more...

CROSSROADS is a thirty-seven-minute film by American artist Bruce Conner (1933-2008) and is considered one of the most iconic works in the history of the moving image. It was produced in 1976 from archival footage of the first nuclear tests conducted at Bikini Atoll in the summer of 1946. These are known as Operation Crossroads. read more...

Figueroa renovates Edel Assanti with a site-specifically designed sky deck, providing the setting for a programme of talks, performances, concerts and events that will see diverse audiences freely engaging with one another. Figueroa’s structure, built below the gallery’s skylight, will be the natural successor to his 2014 installations in New York, presented at the Whitney Biennial and The Sculpture Centre, which referenced a previously built tree house in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. read more...

The Surrealist fistfight at the heart of this exhibition transpired ninety years ago on July 2, 1925 at a banquet in celebration of the elder Symbolist poet, Saint-Pol-Roux, at the Closerie des Lilas, located at 171 Boulevard du Montparnasse, Paris. The Surrealists arrived early to the dinner, before the other guests, and distributed copies of their “Open Letter to Mr. Paul Claudel, French Ambassador to Japan” under each place setting. read more...

Perishable substances, from deep-fried flowers to recalled powdered milk, potato chips, or snail excretions, are the Korean-born artist Anicka Yi’s (b. 1971) medium of choice. The exhibition 7,070,430K of Digital Spit looks back at her practice via a vast new project spread across and imagined for the entire ground floor of Kunsthalle Basel. This show self-consciously acts as a coda to five years of production and exhibition making that has been organized around very personal subjects such as denial, divorce, and death. read more...

The collective consists of three artists who experiment with digital imaging technology and are best known for their animations. The exhibition presents a selection of recent animations, as well as a new work the trio created especially for the occasion. After Babel is a major group show about the many languages that form part of contemporary art. The common denominator for the participating artists is that they build bridges between different languages and continents. There really is a tower at the heart of the show. It is based on a concept by Simon Denny (New Zealand/Germany) in collaboration with Alessandro Bava (Italy/ United Kingdom), that provides a tangible form for the ideas of the legendary exhibition Poetry Must Be Made By All!
