Al Taylor: Pet Stains, Puddles, and Full Gospel Neckless at David Zwirner Gallery, 20th Street David Zwirner is pleased to announce an exhibition of drawings and three-dimensional constructions by Al Taylor, the artist’s fifth solo show at the gallery. On view at our 537 West 20th Street space, the exhibition will present a comprehensive examination of Taylor’sPet Stains and Puddles, which encompass a large grouping of interconnected series that were created between 1989 and 1992; and works from Taylor’s later series Full Gospel Neckless (sic) that the artist made in Denmark for his 1997 solo exhibition at Galleri Tommy Lund. Corinne Vionnet at Danziger GalleryThe French-Swiss artist Corinne Vionnet is a pioneer in the exploration and re- purposing of web based imagery. Beginning in 2005 (well before many other contemporary artists began layering j-pegs pulled from the internet) she began carrying out online keyword searches of vernacular images of tourist landmarks from around the world after observing that most snapshots were either conscious or unconscious renderings of existing imagery of that location. This led her to examine how we select the optimum spot from which to photograph a landmark and how we edit out that which is superfluous to our constructed reality of leisure. read more...

The ten trace the evolution of Warhol’s career from his breakthrough 1962 Campbell’s Soup Can series to the Cowboys and Indians portfolio he produced in 1986, shortly before his untimely death. This time her theme is faces. Rows of faces take over an entire wall in the exhibition room, and the viewer is met by an enormous wall of art, arranged in a salon style.
