Scott's other artistic influences include Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt. She paints en plein air, saying, "I have no interest in painting from a picture. There is no change of light, no life." No matter where she paints, she finds beauty in her surroundings. Scott's pastel landscape paintings evoke a sense of calmness and serenity. She uses a bright color palette to reflect what she sees in nature. "We work with pigment, not light. If you don't make everything brighter than it is, it won't sing," she says.
