Everyday Objects

Painter sheds new light on common things

SACRAMENTO * This month Elliott Fouts Gallery presents a two-person show of new works by Christopher Scott and Manuel Nunes. Scott creates imaginative stilklife works that feature familiar everyday objects such as vintage books, chairs, clocks, and luggage. He situates his objects of choice in neutral backgrounds and then plays with the light that illuminates them. His graphic compositions emphasize the basic shapes of the objects, raising them to larger-than-life status. Nunes is a talented landscape painter known for capturing the many moods of California's Central Valley. Meet the artists at a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 13.
