Daniel Buren: To Align: works in situ 2017 at Bortolami Gallery Bortolami is pleased to present Daniel Buren’s fourth exhibition with the gallery, and the first in its new Tribeca location. For this show, Buren will completely transform the space, using both colored filters and with new in situ works. In his over 50-year career, Daniel Buren is best known for his use of contrasting stripes as a visual tool that reveals the specific features and dimensions of a site, often transforming the environment for which it was specifically designed. He alters the perception and context of one's surroundings by modifying the navigation of space, enhancing lighting, obstructing viewpoints, and highlighting certain architectural features. read more...

Heather Rasmussen: Body Variations at ACME ACME. is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by Los Angeles based artist Heather Rasmussen. Included in the show are recent photographs, sculptures, and video. Greatly influenced by Hans Breder, Ujj Zsuzsi and Rene Magritte in this new body of work, Rasmussen remade one of each of their pictures, in order to walk in their footsteps. From this recitation of surreal and visceral images, Rasmussen was able to develop new forms and methods in her studio for her current photographs and sculptures. read more...

Robert Frank: Photos Books Film at The Art Institute of Chicago In 1961 with The Americans, the Art Institute of Chicago became the first museum to accord Robert Frank (American, born Switzerland 1924) a solo exhibition. The museum’s photography curator at the time, Hugh Edwards, purchased 30 photographs from this now-legendary series for the permanent collection, and in 2000, the artist generously gifted a further 38 photographs—works that were openly personal and very different from his chronicling of the state of the country in The Americans. This exhibition dedicated to Frank opens with a special pop-up presentation, conceived by the celebrated photographer and his longtime publisher, Gerhard Steidl. read more...
