See works of 12 different female artists based in Berlin. They are members in the traditional Association of Berlin Female Artists (Verein der Berliner K眉nstlerinnen = VdBK), founded in 1867 鈥� the year of birth of K盲the Kollwitz. She was a member too, studied and teached at the Female Art School, founded by the Association in 1868. Women of her time were not allowed to study at State Art Academies.
The VdBK is one of the oldest cultural institution of Berlin and an active part of the Berlin World of Art. Since the middle of the 19th century the Association supported young female artists like K盲the Kollwitz. They organised exhibitions, arranged smashing costume parties, awarded scholarships and hold competitions. Beside K盲the Kollwitz were affiliate lot鈥檚 of well known artists like Paula Modersohn-Becker, Julie Wolfthorn, Charlotte Berend-Corinth, Jeanne Mammen, Hannah H枚ch, Milly Steger, Maria Slavona, Augusta von Zitzewitz and Lotte Laserstein.
Today the Association doesn鈥檛 have an own exhibition location. They are guests at the K盲the-Kollwitz-Museum at the first time. And we are glad to support the artists of the VdBK like they supported K盲the Kollwitz in the beginning of her career.
More than 30 works are on display. Works on paper in different techniques and sculptures made of different materials.
