A Stitch in Time: Southern Quilts in the African-American Tradition

The art of quilting enjoys a long and rich heritage within African-American communities, particularly in the Deep South. Drawing from the Museum鈥檚 permanent collection of American quilts鈥攁mong the largest in the country鈥攖his exhibition will explore the African-American quilting tradition, from vibrant patterns to whimsical pictorials. Among the featured quilts are masterworks by Nora Ezell, Yvonne Wells, Chris Clark, and the Freedom Quilting Bee.
