Ackland & Edwards: Between The Lines Part 2
Artists Judith Ackland and Mary Stella Edwards are synonymous with Bucks Mills in north Devon. Their cabin, perched above the sea, has been untouched for over 40 years and preserves the secrets of their beautiful artwork.
In 2012, the Burton was entrusted by the Ackland and Edwards Trust with a treasure trove of correspondence, sketchbooks, diaries and photographs, relating to the lives and inspirations of the two painters. This gave a team of volunteers the monumental task of documenting and digitising the archive.
A continuation of the 2013 exhibition Read Between The Lines, this new exhibition reveals more from the Ackland and Edwards archive and also reveals previously unseen paintings of Bucks Mills and the Cabin.
