Ana Vidigal: Cu茅ntame del viento

Feb 01, 2025 - Mar 29, 2025

Espacio M铆nimo gallery presents the fourth solo exhibition by Portuguese artist ANA Vidigal, Cu茅ntame del viento (Tell me about the Wind). The show brings together recent works in which the usual load of memory, that shapes and nourishes her poetics, has given way to a reflection on our 鈥 disturbing and uncertain 鈥 present, on this occasion. Restlessness that Vidigal faces by recalling a quote taken from French philosopher Jacques R脿nciere鈥檚 essay, 鈥楧iscomfort in aesthetic鈥: 鈥淎esthetic is not political by accident: it is political by essence鈥.

The exhibition consists of a site-specific installation of large-format fabrics as flags that, entitled as a poem of Marguerite Yourcenar says 鈥淪o there is salt in tears鈥 (Fires, 1936), hang statically and take up the space completely. Innocent child-like comic book characters and zoomed-in snapshots, act as carriers of symbols for resilience. Next to them, a series of paintings on canvas and digital impression by ink injection, upon which the wind surges and blows, counteracting the quiet flags. Flags and wind.
