Between 芦Br眉cke禄 and 芦Blauer Reiter禄. Hanna Bekker vom Rath, a pioneer of modernism

As a courageous representative of the artists that have been outlawed by the Nazis "degenerate" as, wearing Hanna Bekker vom Rath in to the fact that the German Expressionism after World War II has achieved worldwide renown.
The gallery owner, painter and art patron Hanna Bekker vom Rath (1893-1983) cultivated friendships with important artists such as Ludwig Meidner, Alexej von Jawlensky, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff or Roeder. They bought their works at, invited the painter to Hofheim near Wiesbaden in their legendary Blue house and led them there along with collectors. In her Berlin studio, she organized exhibitions secret during the Nazi rule. Their first spontaneous support of individual artists has been a persistent mission. 
A reliable friend
as Meretlein discovered Hanna Bekker vom Rath their early love of art, took painting and drawing classes and learned through her 鈥嬧媓usband Paul Bekker know numerous artists from music, literature and theater. Karl Schmidt-Rotluff, one of the most important representatives of Expressionism and founding member of the artist group Die Br眉cke, has made 鈥嬧媟epeated several weeks for painting in Hofheim on. After the end of World War II in 1947, she founded the Frankfurt Art Cabinet Hanna Bekker vom Rath. To their artists and friends now also included Ernst Wilhelm Nay and Willi Baumeister. As a successful operator of the Frankfurt Art Cabinet sold Hanna Bekker vom Rath works at many major museums and not least 1962/63 traveling exhibition as guests of the Cultural Department of the German Foreign Office. 
Emergence of Modernism in the second half of the century 
, the collection of Hanna Bekker vom Rath reflects her interest in the existential expressionism as touching art again. Even with Paul Klee was connected in a special way. Already in 1923 they acquired one of his works, runners (Haker Boxer), 1920, 25 in the gallery of Klee's art dealer Hans Goltz in Munich. Probably about Ida Kerkovius, also visited the Bauhaus in Weimar under Klee's teaching on others, learned Bekker vom Rath, the artist personally. She visited him in Dessau and after his forced return to Switzerland in the summer of 1935 in Bern.
The exhibition is produced in cooperation with the Museum Wiesbaden and combines the most important pictures from the estate of collector and gallery owner Hanna Bekker vom Rath with works by Max Beckmann, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Emil Nolde, Alexei Jawlensky, Paul Klee, Kurt Schwitters, Giacometti, K盲the Kollwitz or Willi Baumeister.
