Bogdan 叠辞谤膷颈膰: Painting And Space
The collection of works by Bogdan 叠辞谤膷颈膰 in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koro拧ka (KGLU) began to take shape in the final years of the last century. In 2003, it was significantly enhanced by the artist鈥檚 donation of 40 paintings, to which he added another 10 in 2006. Following the artist鈥檚 death, his family donated parts of his artistic legacy to the KGLU. The collection of Bogdan 叠辞谤膷颈膰鈥檚 works in KGLU has thus grown to 330 works, including 314 paintings, 11 graphics, and 5 sculptures.
In this setup of Bogdan 叠辞谤膷颈膰鈥檚 collection, entitled PAINTING AND SPACE (Interwoven Sequences), we highlighted two motifs to which the artist continually returned 鈥� the motifs of 鈥渄oor鈥� and studio鈥�. More than 50 of 叠辞谤膷颈膰鈥檚 paintings, graphics, and sculptures will be on display. Alongside works from the last 20 years of the artist鈥檚 life, some of his older works will also be exhibited, which will help shed light on the development of the two emphasized motifs.
Aside the formal differences between the works of various authors, their common pursuit is especially visible, proving that the artist is not self-sufficient but is, on the contrary, connected and involved in the scene, with thoughts and feelings. These works inspired 叠辞谤膷颈膰 or vice versa, and now resonate in this setup. In dialogue with the works of other authors, the large abstract paintings of Bogdan 叠辞谤膷颈膰 come to life in a new way. The exhibition also includes two interventions 鈥� a sculpture by Jure Markota and wall paintings by Dean Jokanovi膰 Toumin.
Such an arrangement allows us to explore the artist鈥檚 method of working and understand how the motif developed and constantly changed. By placing 叠辞谤膷颈膰鈥檚 work in a new context, we enabled visitors a new perspective on his works.
