Ceramics from Picasso to the present day

Sep 12, 2024 - Feb 07, 2025

This Fall, the Galerie de la B茅raudi猫re is delighted to present an exhibition dedicated to ceramics, showcasing a vast panorama of contemporary works as well as an exceptional selection of masterpieces of modern art.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is a group of ceramics by Pablo Picasso, testifying to the Spanish master's extraordinary creativity. Picasso discovered this medium in 1946, at the age of 65, during a visit to the Madoura studio in Vallauris, in the south of France. Quickly captivated by the possibilities offered by ceramics, he turned it into a privileged space of expression for his art.

Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a constant desire to push back artistic boundaries, Picasso transformed this practice, hitherto perceived as a craft, into a veritable field of innovation, influencing generations of artists to revisit the medium with fresh eyes. His bold, creative ceramics reveal a singular blend of influences, drawing on mythology, African art and Mediterranean culture.
