FOST Gallery is pleased to present The Key to this Mystery is to Rephrase the Question Slightly, a
solo exhibition by CHUN Kai Feng. This exhibition alludes to the perspective that things assume equal ontological significance as their human counterparts. Based on anonymous fixtures of generic urban interiors such as air diffusers and escalators, Chun’s installation of 11 works explore ideas of abstraction and materiality alongside our relationship with things and the environment. Through slight dislocation of objects from their original context and the subtle restructuring of each of its properties, Chun stages peculiar versions of habitual encounters, prompting a reflective consciousness of the mechanisms embedded in our perception of things. These works extend Chun’s journey of contemplating boredom and mapping existence through everyday things. In conjunction with The Key to this Mystery is to Rephrase the Question Slightly, an Artist’s Talk will be held at 2pm on Saturday, 9 April, together with artist, curator and writer Tan Guo-Liang.
