Macaulay + Co. is thrilled to present a new body of work by Vancouver based
artist Dana Claxton. On view are photo based works, and ephemera based on a gift from Vancouver鈥檚 Rick Erickson. Rick has long been a central and valued member of the arts and cultural community in Vancouver, and during a trip to Montreal, himself and friends went to the Peace Camp in Kanesatake that was established during 鈥淥ka Crisis鈥滱lso known as The Kanesatake Resistance, or the Mohawk Resistance, there was a a 78-day standoff (11 July鈥26 September 1990) between the Kanyen鈥檏eh脿:ka (Mohawk), Quebec police, the RCMP and the Canadian Army, as a result of a crisis that was sparked by the proposed expansion of a golf course by the town of Oka on disputed Kanesatake land that included a Kanyen鈥檏eh脿:ka burial ground.
