Dot Dot Dot

Dec 03, 2010 - Jan 29, 2011
"The show is like an explored and expanded form of a type of gift giving or exchange - a shared space for liking (even if this means not liking) - examining or maybe, trying to dissolve (to some degree) hierarchies of taste. What is generosity? What does it mean? What is inclusive, what is exclusive? Rather than it being 'conceptual ideas'explored aesthetically, I guess what they were doing is enacting it, playing it out – seeing what happens." Harrison George Ford

dot dot dot was first conceived by Sam George and Lisa Radford in early 2009 and exhibited at Hell Gallery, Richmond (VIC) in June of that same year with the artists: Greatest Hits, Richard Lewer, Kenny Pittock, Kati Rule and Masato Takasaka, Sam, Lisa and Masato hypothesised about another version – Fergus Binns, Jon Campbell, Ry Haskings, Kim Henenberg, Helen Hughes, Sharon Goodwin, Anusha Kenny, Madeline Kidd, Andrew Liversidge and Ace Wagstaff were each invited by one or another of the artists involved and dot dot dot was then exhibited in Sydney at Peleton. Lismore Regional Gallery holds the triquel exhibition and the delicate rhizome-like network of relationships based on ‘like-mindedness has expanded once again.

dot dot dot is an exhibition generated by its artist participants. The exhibition breaks down the hierarchy between curator and artist whereby the curator is the director. Instead, participants invite participants, participants become lovers, exhibitors collaborate, and new collaborators invite strangers.

dot dot dot stems from artists’ networks and presents artists who have come up through and been influential within the Artist Run Initiative scene, primarily in Melbourne.
