Allegorically, the event horizon marks a threshold into the unknown beyond which things become inaccessible, transformed, or lost. In much the same way, the works in Field Projects鈥� 2025 Summer Exhibition鈥攕panning video, sculpture, painting, and photography鈥攅voke mystery, awe, loss, and transformation. The artists navigate uncertain terrain, venturing into spaces where clarity is elusive and what lies beyond remains only partially known. They reflect a deep desire to make sense of, grapple with, and reimagine the spaces we inhabit鈥攂oth the physical landscapes around us and the internal, cerebral spaces that shape who we are. At the heart of the exhibition lie fractured horizons and shifting skylines. Through manipulated photography, video, and painted surfaces, the artists construct scenes in search of clarity鈥攜et clarity remains perpetually just out of reach. In some pieces, the landscape becomes a conduit for processing grief, confronting history, or mapping evolving identities. In others, broken horizon lines and celestial symbols gesture toward fragmented memories and dreamlike states. What unites these works is an insistent pause鈥攁 deliberate stillness. They compel us to linger, to look deeper, and to unravel the layered meanings hidden within. In doing so, we begin to sense the complex struggles these artists are uniquely equipped to confront.
