Fatal Attraction: Diana And Actaeon 鈥 The Forbidden Gaze

In Ovid's Metamorphoses, the noble hunter Actaeon inadvertently encounters Diana bathing. As a punishment for catching this glimpse, he is transformed into a stag by the goddess and consequently hunted down and killed by his own hounds. This exhibition focuses on works relating to this mythical tale, which has provided a rich source of inspiration through the centuries. It brings together works by artists, including Rembrandt, Jan Brueghel the Elder, Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, Egon Schiele, Hans Bellmer, Paolo Vernonese, Albrecht Durer, Robert Mapplethorpe, Marlene Dumas, Gregory Crewdson, Pierre Klossowski and John Currin.
