Finding Your Way
Monya Rowe Gallery is pleased to announce Finding Your Way featuring Gianna Commito, Matthew F Fisher and Jim Gaylord. The works on view include collage and painting. This group exhibition brings together three artists whom depict shapes and spatial concerns in differing ways. The artists are united by their use of clean lines and a close attention to form and edges. Flat becomes dimensional and charged. An engaging fullness of color compliments the works鈥 impersonal approach. In the geometric paintings of Gianna Commito (b. 1976; Sea Level, NC) and the abstract collages of Jim Gaylord (b.1974; Washington, NC), the forms are finite and not intended to evoke any recollection of specific shapes or objects. In opposition, Matthew F Fisher鈥檚 (b.1976; Boston, MA) paintings incorporate representation, but the objects (a seagull, a crab) become anonymous and even they are sufficient as autonomous shapes themselves.Featuring Artists: Gianna Commito, Matthew F Fisher and Jim Gaylord.
