Hak Vogrin: A Retrospective

Aug 05, 2016 - Oct 30, 2016
Hak Vogrin: A Retrospective features the work of Hak Vogrin, a largely self-taught painter linked to both outsider art and twentieth-century mainstream art. This exhibition tracks the evolution of Vogrin鈥檚 work, showing delicate, thoughtful drawings, ironic cartoons, as well as expressive paintings condemning the ills of American society. Vogrin鈥檚 work critiques issues such as national hypocrisy, consumerism, environmental issues, and the mistreatment of women and minorities. Despite his death in 2009, Vogrin remains an active critical voice of reason responding to persisting contemporary problems through his artwork.
