New York, May 20, 2016 - hpgrp GALLERY NEW YORK and GALLERY KOGURE are pleased to present Here Where We Are, a show of work by Alumni from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program curated by Sophia Chizuco. Please join us for a reception with the artists Friday, June 10th from 6 to 8pm to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month. The exhibition will continue until Saturday, July 2nd with regular gallery hours Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00am-6:00pm.
Here Where We Are is an exhibition that examines the concepts of 鈥減lace鈥 and 鈥渂elonging鈥 from immigrant perspectives. This exhibition brings together the work of six international artists currently working in New York; Liene Bosqu锚 (Brazil), Sophia Chizuco (Japan), Isabelle Garbani (France), Liesl Pfeer (Australia), Claudia Sohrens (Germany), and Julio Austria (Philippines). While ranging in mediums from installation, to print, to photography and paintings, all six artists share the bonds of having met in New York while creating work in keeping with their cultural heritage. These varied works create the Here while the physical exhibition serves as the Where We Are.
