Hook&Loop: The Tools We Use
Established in November 2020, Hook&Loop arose in response to the pandemic and its further marginalization of Disabled lives. Led by Disabled, Chronically Ill, neurodivergent and MAD people, Hook&Loop is an evolving network whose members have equal ownership over the collective and work together to create accessible spaces, creative practices and interdisciplinary events for all.
THE TOOLS WE USE celebrates the range of their practices while calling attention to the hierarchies of power that shape them, both within and outside of the Disabled community. Whether a work is created from paper towels, oil paint, glass, with the help from support workers, or the body itself - THE TOOLS WE USE joyfully investigates who has access to what and why. Throughout their residency Hook&Loop members will continue their practice of shaping the pace, format, space, and time of their work. This fluid residency will include exhibited works, weekly performances and a pop up shop organized by This Must Be The Place .
