In Motion – Middlesbrough Collection
Artists are inventive and curious. They ask big questions and spark bold ideas – whether by exploring new ways to create, experimenting with materials or imagining possible futures.
In Motion is a display of artwork from the Middlesbrough Collection held at MIMA. The Collection holds 2,350 works of art and craft made by artists based in the Tees Valley and internationally from the mid-1800s to today.
In Motion showcases artists from the Middlesbrough Collection who challenge perspectives and deepen our understanding of the world and our place within it. These ideas unfold through four key themes: Experimentation and Innovation, Repetition and Motion, Connection, and Future Unwritten. Artworks encompass a wide range of media including drawing, painting, photography, installation ceramics and jewellery.
