Jasper Morrison: The Lightness of Things
On Wednesday 26 March Fondazione ICA Milano opens to the public its Spring exhibition program, designed to intersect the city's two major thematic weeks, with three new projects, presented for the first time in Italy.
This year as well ICA Milano presents a project originated by the dialogue between Piero Gandini and Alberto Salvadori, dedicated to an important international designer whose work dialogues with the languages of contemporary art through a site-specific exhibition specifically developed for the institution. The protagonist of 2025 is the renowned designer Jasper Morrison who, through The Lightness of Things provides a unique point of view on the meaning of design.
Curated by Alberto Salvadori, The Lightness of Things celebrates the essential approach to design developed by Jasper Morrison (London, 1959). For ICA Milano, the designer creates an installation that combines twelve floating chairs and twelve photographic wall compositions representing archetypal objects within the exhibition space. The installation is accompanied by a minimalist sound track, created by the composer Anthony Moore, based on fragments of essays written by the designer and soundtracked by non-human voices. For Jasper Morrison, objects should blend into their environment without imposing themselves, as their true value lies in the naturalness with which they fit into everyday life.
The exhibition The Lightness of Things is realized with the support of Piero Gandini.
