Joey Tranchina: Sixties in Los Angeles
Joey Tranchina (USA, b. 1943) is an American professional photographer whose personal documentary work on Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York during the 60s and 70s has remained buried in boxes in storage for almost 50 years. Professionally, he contributed to Sunday California Living Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, Fortune Magazine and private commissions. The discovery of Joey Tranchina's photographic archives in 2022 brought the artist, poet and activist into the spotlight. His Beat Generation archive was published by Editions Steidl in 2024, while his humanist photographs of Los Angeles were published by Transparent Press. Joey Tranchina currently lives in the South of France.
