Kyaraai: Raw Memory Flat Record

Oct 02, 2024 - Oct 14, 2024
Ammon Tokyo is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Kyara Ai ‘Raw Memory, Flat Record’.

Kyaraai started her career as an illustrator in her early 10s and has attracted a lot of attention, especially from young people, through her social media. Currently, she has taken the theme of 'fluctuation' - the happiness and suffering that occurs on a social media she comes in contact with on a daily basis, and the instability that comes with it - as the basis of her work, and tries to depict the complexity of contemporary society and human relationships that cannot be divided into good and bad, light and dark. She continues to create her paintings as if they were children's toys, because she feels that the cute goods that surrounded her when she was living hard in the real world can hold her spirit as it continues to float on the Internet.

The exhibition features new drawings and canvas works based on 100 photographs taken by the artist herself and others close to her. The artist expresses her awareness of everyday 'memories' and 'records' through the act of drawing.
