Larson Shindelman & McKinna Anderson: Within Your Reach
The Swan Coach House Gallery is pleased to present Within Your Reach, a photography exhibition by Larson Shindelman and McKinna Anderson.
Drawing from content posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Tinder, the artists in this exhibition explore the interplay between self-presentation online and the desire to be seen and heard by others. Oscillating between humorous, optimistic, and somber tones, these two bodies of work explore the dynamics of shared online experiences, where boundaries blur as personal becomes public.
Artist duo Larson Shindelman sources Tweets with publicly embedded GPS locations to photograph the site from where it was posted. Paired with the Tweets as captions, the images memorialize fleeting moments and offer ambiguous context. McKinna Anderson scrutinizes performances of self on Tinder by redacting dating profile pictures and highlighting details deemed important for potential matches, such as natural surroundings, poses with brandished items, and self-descriptions.
