Lisa Dinhofer: West Village Road Kill and Other Found Objects
Denise Bibro Fine Art is pleased to present Lisa Dinhofer: West Village Road Kill and Other Found Objects, the artist鈥檚 fifth solo show at the gallery, on view October 11 through November 10, 2012. Dinhofer鈥檚 new color pencil work continue her realist style, deftly creating meticulous portraits of creatures; dragonflies, turtles, birds, bats and grasshoppers, that comprise her surrounding neighborhoods of SoHo and the West Village.
Dinhofer refers to her subjects as 鈥渙ur roommates and neighbors.鈥 All of Dinhofer鈥檚 subjects are either found by the artist or are offerings from friends. They are rendered on paper in the artist鈥檚 studio. Dinhofer鈥檚 object-based studies often magnify the subject up to ten times their actual size, celebrating the intricacies and subtleties of New York City鈥檚 flora and fauna. The flexibility of color pencil enables the artist to articulate the surface texture and transparency of a cicada wing, the soft plumage of a redheaded sparrow, and the radiating patterns on a tortoise shell.
