MLK in Los Angeles
Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.鈥檚 life by learning about his visits to Los Angeles and the USC campus. Presented at the USC Fisher Museum of Art, the exhibition features several never before seen historic images, audio and video recordings that chronicle Dr. King鈥檚 visits in South Los Angeles and USC beginning in the mid-1950鈥檚 until his assassination in 1968. MLK in Los Angeles reveals how important Dr. King鈥檚 work on the West Coast was during the civil rights movement.
The exhibition was organized by the USC Center for Black Culture and Student Affairs, the USC President鈥檚 Office, and the USC Fisher Museum of Art.
The exhibition was curated by students Endiya Griffin, B.A. Visual Anthropology, Kymia Freeman, B.A. Public Relations, and Sasha Lawrence, B.A. Psychology. Designed by Nicolette Peji out of the USC Roski School of Art and Design. These student leaders aim to honor the impact and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. as a civil rights leader in Los Angeles and beyond.
