Mike Stack鈥檚 first solo show at Chiaroscuro features the latest 鈥渆xpansion鈥 of a larger body of work that he has developed over the last decade. The paintings, based on subtle movement of light and color on a horizontal plane, are linear abstractions that transport the viewer into a vast space. Stack creates this space with quarter inch lines of ever so slightly varied hues within the same color. He explains, 鈥淒eveloping an orchestration of variable chromatic triads and neutral hues, I work to create a visual dynamic that unendingly shifts and changes. 鈥 The result is a meditative field of similar colors that vibrate off each other and come to life before your eyes.
