No[w]here

Aug 30, 2024 - Oct 05, 2024

A plus A Gallery is delighted to announce the opening of no[w]here, an exhibition curated by the participants of the School for Curatorial Studies Venice, 2024. Opening at the end of summer, this exhibition invites artists from around the world to explore the theme of belonging, inspired by Pablo Neruda鈥檚 There鈥檚 No Forgetting.

The exhibition considers the history and evolution of our physical and emotional attachment to places by inviting artists to reflect on their relationship with memory and belonging. With curators coming from 14 different countries spanning 5 continents, the exhibition offers a constellation of new and often overlooked perspectives presented by artists from around the world. Forming the crux of the exhibition is the dialogue between installations, photographs, sculptures, videos, and paintings from international as well as local Venetian artists.

No[w]here deftly plays with the duality in its title 鈥 鈥渘owhere鈥 and 鈥渘ow here鈥 鈥攈ighlighting the ephemeral, fluid nature of belonging. These artworks traverse national borders and use emotions tied to the land as a starting point for exploring magical realism, formal experimentation, and political and social critique.

Inspired by Neruda鈥檚 reflections on land and memory, no[w]here captures the deep ties to our environments.
