On the Exactitude of Rain

Jul 01, 2015 - Aug 28, 2015

RYAN LEE is pleased to announce On the Exactitude of Rain, a group show featuring work by six artists and one scientific group. At the core of this gathering is a broad interest in the encryption and decoding of nature through various practices and modes of representations. An inquiry, which veers from the poetic to the utilitarian to the empirical, explores various modalities of experiencing and processing nature. The show is organized by artists Maria Antelman and Sari Carel

As climate change rapidly affects landscapes and ecosystems across the planet, and hundreds of species go extinct daily, grave scenarios taking place are quietly becoming the new normal. How we relate to these striking changes depends largely on the stories we tell about nature as landscape and as habitat.
The show will feature works across media including painting, film, printmaking, sculpture, photography and sound. In addition, regularly updated recordings from REAL鈥檚 site in Twin Lakes, Michigan will connect the gallery space with this area鈥檚 sound biomes, treating it as a kind of satellite exhibition space.
